Our business is based around a roll former which when produced in 1983 was decades ahead of its time but which has also gone through significant changes to keep up with market demands the latest being modifications to now produce a 90 mm framing system as well as the 75mm that has served us well over the years.

The original concept was based on a patented dimple/rivet system used to make initially garages in the late 1970’s and our photo shows the original machine from those days which we have kept (even though the business has changed ownership several times) as a reminder of our beginnings. One company infringed our patents in 1976 when the patents were due to run out, however, the patents were extended until 2000 due to the bicentenary. At least 2 companies developed their systems based on this copy yet they would have you believe they developed their systems before 2000. There are companies that were around in the seventies even before us that truly were pioneers of lightweight steel framing and are still trading today. The interesting point is that since our patents ran out there have been several systems come on the market with the dimple/rivet system which indicates there are obvious benefits in manufacturing to this style of system. Its main advantage being that it lends itself perfectly to automation in production and eliminates the need for expensive, complicated jigs and fixtures for assembly.

You will notice in our manufacturing photos that our trusses are assembled using only tressles to get the product up to a comfortable work height and frames only have a squaring jig to keep them square when we fit our wall strap bracing. Because of this we have shipped unassembled houses to almost every state in Australia and to many cyclonic areas in the South Pacific for local assembly sometimes on the actual slab.

Our business has concentrated mainly in the complicated owner builder market successfully helping thousands of owner builders construct their homes but we have also frequently engaged in commercial work of all types.

We have designed/produced/constructed Schools, Hospitals and Medical centres etc. for some of the larger building companies in Sydney and we are intending to develop these areas of our business further as the 90 mm frame allows us to meet commercial framing specifications which due to changes over the years have partly excluded us due to our frame width.

Prior to that our system was one of the only systems approved by the dept of public works to take the loadings specified.
